Community money - invested by the community

Locals invited to spend money! Radstock and Westfield Big Local helping you to help the community!

In what’s gearing up to be another exciting event, Radstock and Westfield residents are invited to come to our Dragons’ Den this Saturday, 4.30pm at the Radstock Victoria Hall.

We’re ready to give away thousands of pounds to make our area an even better place to live. If you’re a resident you can help choose which project ideas get the money!

This is a free and fun event for all the family. There will be mountains of tasty buffet food prepared and dished out by members of SWALLOW charity, accompanied by beautiful, melodic music from the talented Emma Shoosmith.

Our bubbly compère, Dom Chambers, will ensure you’re properly entertained and sitting on the edge of your seats, ready for the pitches from a number of local organisations and individuals who hope to impress you with their idea for making a difference to your community. Each pitch will be 90 seconds long and will involve a demonstration, a song or something else creative to catch your imagination.

The extraordinarily happy Dragons, of which there are four, will ask encouraging questions to the pitchers to ensure you have as much information as possible to make your decision. On the voting slip you will mark an x next to your 5 favourite projects. Results will be counted while you eat, chat and listen to the music.

And then, drum roll please, the winners will be announced, presented with their cheque and paraded around the room (maybe not paraded – it’s a small room).

Dom will wrap it up with infectious enthusiasm and then, knowing we’ve done something special for our community, we can go on to the Acoustic Sessions / a talk about the industrial history of the area at the Radstock Museum / to bed in preparation for a good walk with the Somer Valley Walking Festival on Sunday.
