Community money - invested by the community

End of year 1 Partnership meeting

Partnership meeting for website

The Radstock and Westfield Big Local Partnership meeting, held on 1st March at Radstock Working Mens Club, was an opportunity for everyone to celebrate the successes and learning of year 1 and usher in the new dawn of year 2.

Year 1 began in February 2015 when our first three year plan was approved by Local Trust, the organisation that oversees us. After the hard work of the previous years, where volunteers moved mountains to ensure residents were consulted and that the plan reflected their needs, it was a very happy moment indeed when Local Trust broke the good news.

However, there was no time for idleness and seizing the bull by the horns, we set about the process of professionalization. We brought in Somer Valley FM to provide communications support and took on two part-time community development workers, who, under the steady guidance of the management board set up internal structures, developed our website, social media and branding and put a process in place in order to roll out our funding.

On the breeze of spring comes year 2. In the meeting we explained about the application process to our Big Fund, and encouraged organisations to speak with us about applying for funding. We welcome applications at any time and have two able and willing workers who are looking forward to helping with the process.

A big thank you to all who attended and those doing good work on the partnership – This couldn’t happen without you. Welcome to the new members who signed up on the day!
