Radstock and Westfield Big Local were heavily involved in helping to bring people together to make the Radstock Town Council Xmas Lights Switch On a fun-filled community event.
We worked with Radstock Town Council and DNA arts to plan the event and connect the organisations that wanted to be involved and to spread the good news.
We are also happy to have funded Radstock Museum to open to the public for free that day – they did us proud with an interactive Victorian xmas theme, where volunteers dressed up and got into character to spark the imagination of kids and adults alike! We are really pleased that people learnt valuable new skills that can help bring the cost of xmas down such as making peg dolls and xmas faeries, lavender pillows, xmas crackers and popcorn garlands, as well as recycling old xmas cards to make bunting. We also learnt old games and much much more.
It was a fantastic day out with the grand finale of the lights switch on outside the museum – where the xmas tree and wheel were lit up after a speech and count-down led by Cllr Mike Boulton.
Also thank you to Santa for coming out of his grotto in Radco to spread xmas cheer among the Radstock residents.
