One of the winners of our 10th Dragons’ Den, Youth Connect used the money to rennovate their dilapidated music room, for the benefit of young people’s creativity.
They’ve been in touch to let us know that it has already had a positive impact on both the young people involved and the wider community.
For the young people taking part: They have gained hands-on experience in planning, designing, and shaping a space that reflects their interests and needs.
The process has strengthened their teamwork, communication, and leadership skills, particularly through managing group dynamics and working towards a shared goal.
Involvement has boosted their sense of ownership and pride, knowing they are creating something lasting for their peers.
Many have built new confidence and commitment by seeing the project through its different stages.
For the local community: The project has encouraged youth engagement, giving young people a safe and creative outlet while reducing risks of disengagement or anti-social behaviour.
It has created opportunities for cross-community involvement, with different groups of young people working together on something meaningful.
The Music Room will become a valuable resource for the area, providing a dedicated, positive space that supports creativity and learning.
Looking ahead, once the space is fully completed: It will be used to deliver DJ lessons, music production workshops, and training in music software, equipping young people with new skills that may lead to further education or career opportunities.
The Music Room will also act as a creative hub, giving young people a place to explore self-expression through music, develop talents, and build confidence in a supportive environment.
