Off The Record were one of the winners at our 10th Dragon’s Den and have now completed their project to listen to young people to support their mental health. Here’s their report:
Two BCAP trained counsellors delivered 12 weeks of 1:1 50-minute sessions (approx. 96). Young people aged 10 – 25 received a minimum of six sessions. One Listening support volunteer delivered 12 weeks of 1:1 20-minute sessions (approx. 72). YP receive 6 – 8 sessions. Feedback from service users is positive, with 98% telling OTR their confidence has increased. The project has strengthened our relationship with Youth Connect South West, the main youth service in the area, and with NHS & GP’s through Hope House Surgery.
Feedback from someone using our Radstock community listening services, Autumn 2024:
“As well as the actual sessions being really useful and tailored to what was needed at the time (if something specific was going on or more general things to focus on) the general environment felt very nice with all the staff being extremely friendly and checking if you wanted a drink etc as well as just the person I was seeing. I think the environment made the experience very comfortable (I was expecting to be stressed the first time I visited but I felt I was welcomed straight away) this meant that in the actual sessions I was able to relax and open up more. I felt like that was a big part as to why I felt I got a lot out of the sessions compared to previous mental health support.”
