Community money - invested by the community

Supporting Independence and Life Skills

The Radstock & Westfield Big Local’s Dragons’ Den is a brilliant event where people can showcase their passion and ideas for the community. Local people present their amazing project ideas and local people decide which projects receive Big Local funding. We are excited that we have helped local people to deliver over 70 projects that make our community an even better place to live! Parents at Fosseway School pitched their idea at the seventh Dragons’Den in April 2019 and were rewarded with £500 towards the creation of a home-skills room that enables their pupils to learn how to cook, tidy a house and make a bed. This project helps the pupils to develop their confidence and independence.

Here are some of the pupils in action, making use of their new learning space!

Fosseway School is based in Westfield and caters for children aged 3-19 years who, for a variety of reasons, find it difficult to be successful within mainstream schools as full-time pupils. A great way to support them is to get some refreshments at their cafe – Longfellows – which is open to the public from 8am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday each week and is sited near the main entrance to the school. If you have a great idea that will help make Radstock-Westfield an even better place to live, then why not apply to our Dragons’ Den 8? It will take place in Spring 2020 and you could be awarded £500 to make it happen! Applications will be accepted from January – keep an eye on our facebook page and website for updates. https://www.facebook.com/BLRadstockWestfield/ & https://www.radstockwestfield.org.uk/
