The Radstock & Westfield Big Local run a grant giving event, called Dragons’ Den. This is where individuals and organisations who have an idea of how to make our area an even better place to live, pitch to the audience of local residents who then decide what projects they want to see happen in the community. Each winner is awarded £500 to bring their idea to life.
Here are a number of reports from the winners.

Funding for WAGS put to good use
Westfield Allotments and Gardening Society (WAGS) pitched at our Dragons’ Den 3 and were awarded £500 towards their Gardening For Children project – to create raised beds to encourage children to grow vegetables, fruit and flowers and develop an interest in allotment gardening for the future. Rock Guitar Rocks
On 21st June, Rock Guitar School gave free rock guitar taster sessions at the Victoria Hall in Radstock. This was funded by Radstock & Westfield Big Local, where Rock Guitar School was voted one of the winners by local residents at the last Big Local “Dragons Den”. Another success from Big Local’s Dragons’ Den – Confessions of the Youth Theatre Company
Jaydean Dawkins and her team of young performers gave a rousing pitch at our Dragons’ Den 3 and were roundly applauded by the audience of local residents. Westhill Social Club investigate becoming a charity
At our second Dragons’ Den event, in January 2015, residents of Radstock and Westfield voted to provide funding to Westhill Social Club (now Westfield Sports and Community Centre) to investigate the possibility of becoming a charity, in the hopes that they could access funding pots to ensure their survival.
